In a partnership with Business2Schools, a national charity founded in 2019, we are donating PCs, laptops and monitors to schools near many of our 15 offices across the UK.
This donation came about when we made a further major investment in IT, to enable the Group to stay at the forefront of excellent client service. This meant a pool of high quality and still fully-functional IT kit became surplus to requirements, which was ideal for repurposing to help disadvantaged children. There is also a substantial environmental benefit by avoiding IT kit going to landfill.
Business2Schools provides an ethical and environmental solution to the way businesses dispose of their IT kit and office furniture when it is no longer needed.
The charity currently has over 600 schools registered as wishing to receive donations plus more than 50 major businesses including Perspective actively providing support. Their recent appearance on BBC Breakfast raised the charity’s profile even further.
Ian Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer of Perspective Financial Group Ltd said: “It’s the right thing to do to help others, as well as fulfilling our corporate social responsibility and environmental goals. This is a real win-win which gives us great satisfaction, and an effective way to re-purpose for our IT kit.
“We have all heard so much about the challenges of education during Covid-19, particularly for disadvantaged pupils, where lack of access to digital technology can be a significant barrier to effective learning.
“We are delighted to be involved in this initiative and to be giving a helping hand to future generations, as well making a better impact on the environment.
“It’s been great working in partnership with Business2Schools, who have provided us with the confidence to repurpose our IT kit in a secure and well managed way that will make a real impact on local schools and their pupils.”
Lindsey Parslow, Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Business2Schools said: “We are delighted that businesses like Perspective are supporting schools in areas where they have offices, passing on their IT kit and infrastructure to benefit education. It’s the most sustainable and environmental way for a business to upgrade its technology and narrow the Digital Divide.
“School computers are very much older than business devices and therefore this fantastic donation will have a huge impact on the schools they are going to. There is no downside.
“Businesses get to recycle their unwanted IT. The data gets wiped and the schools get things they desperately need. It also teaches children from a young age in a very tangible way about the circular economy and the importance of recognising the impact of climate change.”
